February and the color RED

In early February the male Cardinals colors are bold and bright.

He looks downright dashing in his black mask doesn’t he? lol!

But the female Cardinal is a beauty of her own!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Distorted

The Cardinal is a shy bird here in my yard. I often see the male and female sneaking about giving themselves away more with their chirping than anything else. The branches of this bush kind of dissect the bird giving a distorted view.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Tiny

First let me say this is a terrible photo, however it’s one of those one in a million shots in my opinion….

What does a hummingbird do when he has an itch?

He scratches with his TINY foot of course! 🙂

Although I am beginning to wonder if this little fella is double jointed!
I don’t know about you but I have never seen a bird scratch like this before.

Blessed With Birds

What a Spring! Rain, rain and more rain! One week of sunshine and back to rain, rain and MORE RAIN! I’ve had enough! But it hasn’t stopped the birds from coming out! This year I’ve had more birds than ever before.  I don’t just have a few Orioles this year….  I have a whole flock!

The Ruby Throated Hummingbirds are also here in numbers I haven’t ever seen before!

I think having more birds actually is attracting other birds to see what everyone else is enjoying as I had synchronized aerial flying Pine Siskins come in for a quick bite before they took flight in  unison once again.

Here’s the male Rose Breasted Grosbeak: Did you know the Grosbeaks also like grape jelly?

And a special visitor–an Indigo Bunting!!! In the sun he is simply stunning!!!
